The Hôtel des Tourelles is located in a beautiful 19th century building, along the Rhône river between the station and the town centre. the quarter of La Cité and the quarter of Saint-Gervais formed the old city of Geneva, which was surround by a wall of both sides of the river. The wall was destroyed in 1850, and the Coulouvrenière bridge was erected in 1857 to connect both sides of the river.
The building that currently houses the Hotel des Tourelles was built in 1885 and its turrets are the reason for the hotel’s name. In the early 1900s the Tourelles became a pension.
